That’s right kids, Hot Breakfast! is heading back to Black Rock City, Nevada to play some music at Burning Man! We haven’t been there since 2011. This will be Matt’s second trip there and Jill’s 8th!
Burning Man isn’t so much a festival like Bonnaroo or Coachella… it’s actually a temporary city that has neighborhoods, and some neighborhoods happen to have places to perform. Some of these performance spaces book bands in advance, and some just let fate work its magic. So we won’t be trying to list our performances here because the beauty of Burning Man is that things just happen as the wind blows you around. Besides, there’s no internet access (or electricity or running water) at Burning Man… so once we get there and find a gig, there’s no sense updating things here since nobody who’d need to see it would be able to see it anyway.
We will tell you that we applied to play at The Sonic Runway, which is a giant art installation that pulses light at the speed of sound, so wherever you are, the lights always pulse in time with the music (really, check out that link, it’s amazing). It’s so elegant and mind-blowing at the same time! So that will probably be the only concert time we formally announce… everything else we’ll just leave to chance.
If you are attending Burning Man, we will be camped with Vortex4 at 415 and HAL. Look for the XTINGU trailer… that’s us!
