THIS GIG WILL BE RESCHEDULED DUE TO COVID-19. STAY TUNED FOR THE NEW DATE.
Hi, all! Jill here.
Back in 2018 when The Rock Orchestra did Beatlefest for the first time, the fabulous Nik Everett was one of the guest singers. From working on backing vocals with Nik, they realized they really loved singing together! Fast forward a year when Nik was inducted into the Delaware Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and he put together an all-star band to perform a few songs at the event; Jill was blown away when he asked her to come on board, not only for the DE RnRHoF show, but also for a performance at The Kennett Flash where we celebrated 35 years of Nik’s music!
That Kennett Flash show sold out in a jiffy, so we decided to do one more, and this time it’s at the brandy-new, stunningly gorgeous venue, The Ponderosa (aka “The Ponderosa Barn”).
The Ponderosa was built by hand by musician (and Nik Everett band member) Roger Hoilman, and it resides on his bucolic property in Avondale. Roger built it as the venue of his dreams, with an incredible sound system, a beautiful stage, sky-high ceilings, exposed-beam Amish construction, rustic elegant decor, comfortable seating, a hand-made bar, a balcony(!!), and views of rolling green hills. Getting to rehearse there for Nik’s concerts has been an absolute treat, and we’re thrilled to perform in the space.
We hope you’ll join us!
The venue is somewhere between a house concert (in that you will be on someone’s private property, and the attendees are people we’ve all somehow vouched for so everyone is friendly and cool) and a funky commercial venue. We know that once you see a show there, you’ll be spoiled!
Learning Nik’s original tunes has been such a treat; I admit I only knew his hits, but MAN has it been cool getting to dive deep into his catalog. The band consists of Nik on lead vocals, guitar, and harmonica; Ritchie on drums, Nick (Bucci) on guitar, Roger on bass, Eric on guitar, pedal steel; Spencer on keys, and yours truly on vocals and percussion. Will Matt make a surprise visit? We’ll never tell!
While this is not officially a Hot Breakfast! show, I hope you’ll join us for a joyful celebration of this brilliantly talented gentle giant, Nik Everett, whom I am honored to call friend. <3
